Chromatrap® will be attending AACR (American Association for Cancer Research) Annual Meeting this year from 1st April to 5th April, in Washington D.C.
AACR 2017 is not just an excellent opportunity for Chromatrap® to showcase their solid state ChIP platform to cancer research scientists from around the world but also a chance for one of Chromatrap’s research assistants involved in the R&D of new products, Julia Davies, to present her research during a poster presentation session at the AACR conference.
This is an exciting opportunity for Chromatrap® to further increase the visibility of the excellent work they do, but also for Julia as a researcher – the conference is an important event for the broader cancer community and in particular researchers studying cancer.
During the poster presentation at AACR, Julia will be showcasing aspects of her PhD carried out at Swansea University with a focus on the use of the Chromatrap ChIP kit in her research project. The purpose of the research poster is to present the information in a concise manner, hopefully attracting other delegates of the conference to engage in a discussion and help publicise her research project. Julia will have the opportunity to exhibit her poster and interact with members of the conference during an assigned slot, the time and place for which can be found below, along with information of the poster category.

Regulation of the receptor for advanced glycation end products by estrogen receptor ligands in endometrial cancer
Endometrial cancer (EC) has numerous established risk factors including excessive unopposed estrogen exposure, tamoxifen, obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). These risk factors may promote inflammation, an important hallmark of cancer. Since the endometrium is a site of regular and repeated inflammation during the menstrual cycle, the regulation of inflammation may be involved in EC. The receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) stimulates numerous inflammatory signalling pathways and its expression is elevated in a number of inflammatory pathologies including diabetes and cancer. This work aims to investigate the regulation of RAGE by estrogen receptor ligands in EC. RAGE and ER isoform protein expression were examined in a patient cohort by immunohistochemistry. RAGE and ER isoform expression was assessed following ER ligand exposure in type I and type II EC cell line models. ERα, ERβ, p65 and ER co-regulator recruitment to the RAGE promoter following ER ligand treatment was determined in vitro by chromatin immunoprecipitation. Data revealed (i) RAGE and ER isoform endometrial expression is altered in EC patients and patients receiving tamoxifen compared to postmenopausal women, (ii) RAGE is expressed in type I and II EC cell lines and its expression can be modulated by estrogen and tamoxifen exposure, and (iii) by chromatin immunoprecipitation, ER ligands were shown to alter ERα, ERβ and ER co-regulator binding at the RAGE promoter.
